This is Limelight Networks video sharing platform.  They also have a Content Management System.

I haven’t done enough research to see if these are really the same thing (they should be in this day and age).  One advantage to this approach is that the CDN is part of the solution, so it should scale nicely as demand increases.

Bitflx – Time and Location Relevant Video

Bitflx, started by former Raynet colleague Sebastian Andreatta, is a platform for gathering videos and providing location and time stamping to make add relevance to the videos.  As it says on their web site:

Thousands of videos are available on the web all the time, but there is no indication of when and where they were taken and what they’re about. Relevance to the viewer is lost. BitFlx provides that relevance.

There could be some interesting private-label applications for this technology, which we hope to explore with Sebastian at a later date. .

1 Person Per City Crowd Source Series

VidBlogger from SimplyNew Studios is an interesting take on a local, really self-produced,  content that gets mixed together into a nationwide on-demand network. Both available on Comcast On Demand, as well an online outlets, it will be available for a three season run (each season is 10 episodes, 12 bloggers) of 360, 3 to 5 minute episodes that will be run over the next 90 days.

VidBlogger Nation is a social TV network that features self-portraits by hometown tastemakers who share the stories of people, places and things in their city from a first-person perspective.

VidBlogger Nation is the first-ever Social TV Network. The network launched on Comcast On Demand and is available in 10 key Comcast markets, including: Atlanta, Denver, Michigan, New England, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Portland (Oregon), Sacramento, San Francisco, and South Florida.

They will expand to other markets depending on the success of this run.

Some questions:

  1. Are they paying the talent?
  2. How are they monetizing (I assume ad-supported VOD)?
  3. What is deemed as success?
  4. Will SimplyNew Studios be able to syndicate this to other Operators, besides Comcast?
